Virtual Photography Workshop

The New Brunswick Free Public Library is presenting a Virtual Photography Contest with three free workshops which will be held online via the Zoom platform. Deadline for contest submission is October 15, 2020. Grant funding has been provided by the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders through a grant provided by New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State.

Workshop 1:
How to Take Better People Portraits with ANY Camera, led by Professional Photographer and Author Andrew Darlow.

In this online lecture, Andrew will cover these and other topics: • Overview of camera settings for portraiture, including Aperture vs. Shutter Priority, and Auto ISO. • What to say to your family members or professional models to help them relax or for fun expressions. • Simple and more complex background (a.k.a. backdrop) options and what to use in different situations. • How to use natural and artificial lighting to make people look their best. • How to make the most of inexpensive reflectors for controlling light both inside and outdoors
