Cinco de Mayo Extravaganza

The New Brunswick Free Public Library, in collaboration with Lazos America Unida and Rutgers Center for Latino Arts & Culture, presents their annual Cinco de Mayo celebration, which is free to attend and open to the public of all ages!
Some highlights of the fiesta will be re-enactor Domingo Camarillo as Benito Juárez, President of Mexico, and dance performances by Ballet Folklórico LAU and Kalpulli Tlalhuitzilli. The event includes family entertainment that promotes Mexican culture, such as sombrero crafts, face painting, piñata, Mexican folk music, and ethnic refreshments.
A parade will begin at 12:30 p.m. from the library to Joyce Kilmer Park, where festivities will continue with music and dance performances as well as food vendors until 6:00 p.m.
Additional program sponsors include Puerto Rican Action Board (PRAB), Professional Latino Firefighters of Central New Jersey: New Brunswick Chapter, New Labor, Cosecha, and Saint Peter’s University Hospital.
