The Scene

by Theresa Rebeck

“New York parties will never seem quite the same after "The Scene," Theresa Rebeck's new comedy about a quartet of self-obsessed Manhattanites who wreak emotional havoc upon one another.” – The New York Post

Charlie is a talented, yet unemployed actor who rails daily against the soulless emptiness of "the biz." Charlie’s life is blown apart when he meets Clea, a 20-something fresh off the bus from Ohio with a voracious appetite for men and a ditzy combination of worldliness and naïveté. In a little black dress, she predatorily stalks her way into his life, fulfilling his fantasies — but leaving him feeling emptier than ever. But perhaps that was what he wanted all along....

A direct-from-New York hit by the author of Omnium Gatherum.

“Theresa Rebeck’s sharp-witted, sharp-elbowed comedy about the savage economies of sex and show business in contemporary Manhattan.” – The New York Times

A co-production with Hartford Stage.
