Flamenco Dance Classes

The State Theatre is offering a two-part flamenco dance workshop on Thursday October 23. Instructor Lisa Botalico of the Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre will lead you in the basic moves of this classic Spanish art form.

Introduction to Flamenco
Thursday October 23, 2008 6-7pm

Experience the power and passion of flamenco dancing! This workout for your body and soul will include instruction in the rhythms of the feet (zapateo) and hand clapping (palmas) as well as the sensuous arm and hand movements (braceo). Students will have the opportunity to play castanets as well! Women and men should wear heeled shoes (no stilettos) and women can wear a long, full skirt. No experience is necessary.

Flamenco—Next Steps
Thursday October 23, 2008 7:30-8:30pm

Build upon the introductory steps to hone your flamenco flair! This class can be taken in conjunction with Introduction to Flamenco, or on its own.

The American Theatre Critics Association together with the American Theatre Wing and the League of Regional Theatres and Producers presented the prestigious Tony Award to Crossroads in recognition of its 22-year history of artistic accomplishment and excellence. Crossroads is the first African American theater to receive this honor in the 33-year history of this special award category.
