An Examination of the Zimmerli Art Museum's Series

Dr. Edouard Papet, Curator of Sculpture, Musée d’Orsay, Paris
Thursday, April 3 / 6:00 pm

Edouard Papet, Curator of Sculpture at the Orsay Museum, Paris, will introduce his work on the Zimmerli Art Museum busts series of the Celebrities of the Juste Milieu (Middle of the Road), created by Honoré Daumier between 1832-1835. Papet will contextualize Daumier's portrait-caricature series comprising 36 painted clay busts of politicians and other notable personalities of the July Monarchy (1830-1848), vis-à-vis sculptural trends produced in 19th century France.

The Zimmerli Art Museum is located at 71 Hamilton Street on the College Avenue campus of Rutgers University in New Brunswick. Hours are Tuesday – Friday, 10AM to 4:30PM, and Saturday – Sunday, noon to 5PM. Admission is $3.00 for adults and free for museum members, Rutgers students, faculty and staff (with ID), and children under 18. Admission is free on the first Sunday of every month. For more information, call 732.932.7237, ext. 610.
