We regret to inform you that due to a production change in her theatrical schedule Marlo Thomas has cancelled her lecture dates in the 2008 series, including her scheduled SMART TALK appearance at the State Theatre in New Brunswick.

However, we are thrilled to announce that taking her place center stage on Thursday, May 29 at 8:00 PM will be outed CIA agent and best-selling author, Valerie Plame Wilson. While serving her country as a CIA clandestine operations officer, Valerie Plame Wilson kept her occupation and her identity a secret from all but a very few close family members. When her covert status was revealed by Senior White House and State Department officials to several national journalists, one of whom published her name, it set off a firestorm still raging today. The leak triggered: a federal investigation into the highest levels of government, the jailing of journalists, the sentencing of a senior White House aide and several lawsuits against the US government. It also resulted in the overnight loss of her career and privacy. Having captured the nation's attention, her outing has played a central role in the country's turbulent struggle to redefine the first amendment and the right to privacy; it has also undermined public trust of its leadership.

Series subscribers may use their original Marlo Thomas tickets for the Valerie Plame Wilson event. No new tickets will be issued.
