“I haven’t seen an audience have this much fun since Mamma Mia. As they said in the ‘80s, this show is AWESOME!” — Jess Cagle WCBS-TV/People Magazine

With a score that pays loving homage to the pop songs of the 1980s, this romantic comedy based on the 1998 film, takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room.

“Jessica Dickey is giving such an extraordinary performance in ‘The Amish Project’ …that she makes it easy to overlook something else: the play is also a remarkable piece of writing.” – The New York Times

A fictional exploration of true events, The Amish Project is the story of a schoolhouse shooting in an Amish community, and the path of forgiveness and compassion forged in its wake. Imbued with poetry and humor, The Amish Project investigates a community grappling with loss and faith. Moving seamlessly back and forth among different characters (including the gunman, his widow, an Amish child, a news reporter, and a 16-year-old Hispanic girl), playwright and performer, Jessica Dickey deftly weaves a complex and thought-provoking web of differing perspectives in this compelling one woman show.

Calvin Berger

a new musical by Barry Wyner
Feb 09, 2010 - Mar 14, 2010

GSP is thrilled to produce this hilarious new musical with book, music and lyrics by Barry Wyner.

Too insecure to ask out the girl of his dreams, Calvin communicates with her through the handsome new kid in school. The result is a hip, heartfelt musical comedy re-telling of the Cyrano de Bergerac story, reset in a current-day American high school. Appropriate for ages 12 and up, this new musical, winner of the 2007 Richard Rodgers Award, is sure to delight anyone who has ever been an insecure teenager in love.

“In the tradition of premiering exciting new musicals for the American theatre, like The Spitfire Grill and last year’s The Toxic Avenger, Calvin Berger is certain to join their ranks as another new musical to be produced around the country.” said Artistic Director David Saint

Calvin Berger begins 2010 at George Street Playhouse, running February 9 – March 14, 2010. Opening night is set for Friday, February 19.

Select weeknight performances will have an earlier 7 pm curtain time (as opposed to 8 pm) to accommodate families with middle school and high school-aged students.

In addition to its mainstage season, GSP's Touring Theatre features five issue-oriented productions that tours to more than 250 schools in the tri-state area, and are seen by more than 80,000 students annually.
