“(Muldaur) has one of those sweet, spicy voices that drenches whatever she sings…be it blues, jazz, folk, gospel or pop in soulful sensuality.” — People Magazine

Folk-blues singer Maria Muldaur’s musical roots run deep. Born and raised in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Muldaur was surrounded by everything from bluegrass and jazz to blues and gospel music. However, it was the folk revival of the early 60s where Muldaur first got her start, performing in Greenwich Village with Bob Dylan, David Grisman, and John Sebastian. Then in 1974, Muldaur made a name for herself, charting at #6 in the Billboard Hot 100 with “Midnight at the Oasis.” The chart-topping remake of Peggy Lee’s “I’m a Woman,” soon followed. Muldaur also went on to perform briefly with the Jerry Garcia Band in the late 70s. Now, Muldaur and her Red Hot Bluesianna Band rock the State Theatre stage in an energetic and soulful set that only the “sassy chanteuse” can perform.
